  • Name  John Peperell, Yeoman
    Suffix  Yeoman
Born  1510  Painsford, Devon Find all individuals with events at this location
    Gender  Male
Event  Although the Peverells living in nearby Samford Peverell just over 100 years earlier appeared to have died out it is not unreasonable to believe that lower ranking members of the family remained in the area and were not identified until parish records began. A minor change in the spelling of a name (from Peverell to Peperell) was a common feature of such records at the time. The village of Uffculme is only 2.5 miles from the seat of the Peverells at Sampford Peverell.
Also found in the records are Robert Peperell, Esq from Devon mentioned in 1494 (died) and his son William Peperell, Gent from Painsford (Devon) in 1511.
