    Gender  Male
Occupation  The most likely work would have involved iron production for manufacture of nails, screws, chains or gun-barrels. As his eldest son Thomas was described as a Gentleman we may surmise that William was a manager rather than a worker. His grandson Charles Fiddian was a Malleable Nail Maker as well as producing Coffin Furniture. William was also a Licensee of a Halesowen Alehouse from 1768 until 1779. After his death in January 1780 his wife Sarah was named as Licensee for that year only. It was common for Nail Masters to own public houses so they could pay their workers in kind. In 1770 he was a Surety for another Licensee. He gave his primary occupation as Victualler.
