    Coffin Furniture & Malleable Nail Maker, Gentleman. The business, known as Dawes and Fiddian went Bankrupt in 1861. His partner at the time was Catherine Dawes, widow of Richard Brookholding Menlove Dawes who had owned the business until his death in 1844. Richard's will had left the business to his executors for 9 years and Charles acquired a half share in 1853. When Charles died in 1869 his occupation was given as a Manufacturer's Clerk.

    • The Midlands and Birmingham in particular had been a stronghold of puritanism since the 16 and 17th centuries. The first nonconformist Chapel in Birmingham, The Old Meeting House was built in 1689. It was burnt down in 1715, repaired, destroyed in 1791 riots and rebuilt in 1794. It was finally demolished to make way for Birmingham New Street Station.
